Due to UVA's security settings, links to OneDrive documents connected with Hypothesis will expire seven days after their creation. You can reactivate expired links to allow students to continue to access them by following the steps on the Learning Tech Blog.

Add multiple types of annotations to digital texts to provide context, offer insights, ask and answer questions, and more.

This tool is available as an integration with Canvas (Darden), Canvas (Education) and UVACollab. Log into a supported LMS and add the tool to use it there.

How can Hypothesis enhance teaching and learning?

  • By placing annotations alongside their associated texts to give consistent context and stimulate more informed reading, critical analysis, and interaction

  • By providing forums in which faculty and students can engage in focused, topical conversations before, during, and after class meetings

  • By allowing faculty to guide and support students in their reading through recommendations and instructions, explanatory glosses, and reflection questions
